To all thinking about applying for a Helper position,
First off, thank you for your interest in helping our server. Unfortunately there isn't a place for everyone, though the main thing to remember is you don't need to be a helper to help people out if you enjoy it!
What does being a helper/staff member mean?
Becoming a staff member means giving up your time playing the game to help others. During some events you may be asked to help moderate instead of participating (rarely), if someone needs help and a legendary spawns, the legendary comes second.
This doesn't mean you don't ever get time to play. As helper your main job will be chat moderation which can be done from your breeders or mine, chat will require your attention as you play though.
Being a member of staff isn't a status symbol, you are there to help the community.
The jobs that will be required of you are:
- Chat moderation. This means speaking to players causing issues in chat, punishing those who need it.
- Welcoming new players.
- Answering server and Pixelmon related questions.
These will be the main jobs required of Helpers on the server, if these aren't met it may be grounds for a demotion.
How do you become a Helper?
You can apply to be a helper here: Apply Here
You will be judged on your application and your time in game; how helpful you are and how you interact with the community overall. Your attitude towards new players, old players and young players will play a big part in your application. Being patient with those who require it is a big part of our family friendly server.
What should be in your application?
While helping out in-game is a great first step, applications are a good way to gauge your knowledge of how we handle certain situations, get a feel of your personality and see how much time and where that time would be allocated timezone wise.
The helper scenarios are a great way to show off your knowledge for some of the more common issues that arise at this stage of the mod's life. An essay isn't expected, some bullet points outlining your steps taken is perfectly alright to answer with, though, the more information, the better.
The big thing to remember is that no two situations are the same and the way you deal with the differing situations is key to helping with the many strange issues and players that can arise.
When should you apply for Helper?
If you have time for the server and a good grip on the rules, plugins and mod. Knowing what to do in certain situations and knowing that these situations will never be the same is important.
Please do not spam applications, this won't help but instead my hurt your chances.
Please do not spam staff asking when your application will be reviewed, for the same reason.
I was rejected? What next?
If you would like more information on why you were rejected you can leave a comment on the application asking any questions you have. I won't give you all the answers to make the perfect application but I will give you some things to think about. As mentioned, you don't need to be staff to help people in chat, helping people can help you become staff in the future and it's fun in general even if not.
If you are worried about previous bans stopping you from being staff (depending on severity) if you are a model member for a while after "I was new and stupid", there is still a chance you can become staff.
Remember: All positions need to have good people in them, and most of all, we need players. If you do not make staff don't be down. You, the players, are the most important thing, you are why we are here.
You will be representing the staff, server and community. We expect maturity and devotion to what we are building here.
Applications themselves will change from time to time and edits to this post will be made when necessary.
